Introduction. At MCLE 4
Lawyers (“we,” “us,” “our,” “ours”), we respect your right to privacy and
understand that visitors to MCLEforLawyers.com (the “Site”) need to control the
use of their personal information. The Site allows individuals to register for
our live-instruction traffic violator school classes (in Los Angeles County
only), and to take an internet-based home-study traffic violator school course.
The privacy policy below describes the measures taken by us to protect your
privacy in connection with your use of our Site.
WHAT PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION
DO WE COLLECT, AND WHEN DO WE COLLECT IT?
Registration. When you
register for live-instruction traffic violator school or to take our
internet-based home-study traffic violator school course, we ask for your full
name, California State Bar member number (if any), address, telephone and fax
numbers, email address, California driver’s license number, date of birth, case
or citation number, the name of the court where your case or citation is
pending, and your completion deadline.
Payment. If you use our online
payment processing to pay for live-instruction traffic violator school, or if
you register to take our internet-based home-study traffic violator school
course, we ask for the following credit card information for billing purposes:
the name on your credit card, the billing address, the account number and the
expiration date.
HOW DO WE USE YOUR PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION?
Live-Instruction. If you
register for live-instruction traffic violator school, we use your name,
address, California driver’s license number, date of birth, case or citation
number, and the name of the court where your case or citation is pending to
complete a DMV completion certificate to be delivered to you at the end of the
class. We may use your California driver's license number, and date of birth to
check whether your citation has been dismissed after you complete the course.
We use your telephone and fax numbers and email address to communicate
information relevant to the class, such as class cancellations, and to respond
to your inquiries. Finally, we may use your telephone and fax numbers and
email address to market our services to you or, with your permission, others.
Home Study . Our internet-based
home-study traffic violator school course is a self-paced program, which
permits students to stop and continue whenever they like. We use your email
address and driver’s license number as a userid and password to identify you
and for security purposes whenever you re-enter the Site to continue the
program. Upon completion of the program, we use your name, address, California
driver’s license number, date of birth, case or citation number, and the name
of the court where your case or citation is pending to complete a DMV
completion certificate to be delivered to the court on your behalf. We may use
your California driver's license number, and date of birth to check whether
your citation has been dismissed after you complete the course. We use
your telephone and fax numbers and email address to respond to your
inquiries. Finally, we may use your telephone and fax numbers and email
address to market our services to you or, with your permission, others.
Payment. We use your credit card
information only for billing purposes., and share it only with our bank, our
online payment processor, and other third parties with whom we have contracted
to facilitate processing of your online payments.
WITH WHOM DO WE SHARE YOUR PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE
INFORMATION?
We keep your personally identifiable
information confidential and private, and do not sell to or share it with third
parties for marketing or any other purposes, except as follows:
(a) We do share your credit card information with third parties with whom we
have contracted to perform services for us, such as processing credit card
payments. All such third parties either are bound to comply with our privacy
policy or have their own privacy policies that protect the confidentiality and
privacy of your information.
(b) We do share your personally identifiable information (but not your credit
card information) with courts, to the extent necessary to ensure that you get
appropriate credit for taking one of our courses.
(c) We do share your personally identifiable information (but not your credit
card information) with courts, the DMV, police agencies and court-appointed
monitoring agencies to the extent necessary for them to monitor our compliance
with applicable laws and regulations.
HOW CAN YOU REVIEW AND UPDATE YOUR PERSONALLY
IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION?
The personally identifiable information we
collect about you is all saved in a profile that is kept on our server. If you
have reason to believe that the information we have on file about you is
incorrect or outdated, you may notify us by email (using the
Contact Us page), requesting a report on your information. We will send
you a report by email, and if there are any changes necessary, you may notify
us of them by email, and our staff will correct or update your record.
